T he rugged wilderness that once characterized the entire Mendocino Coast can still be explored and enjoyed in the Sinkyone Wilderness State Park. Since there are no main highways near the coast in this vicinity, the area has come to be called the “Lost Coast.”
Join us as we literally get off the beaten path and venture into one of the few coastal wilderness areas in the United States. We will explore spectacular coastal habitats and climb ridges to experience captivating panoramic views. This moderate hike is perfect for the adult couple or group looking to experience the real California Coast.

Here we set out on foot and begin our hike into truly a wild region where you will enjoy the views with our supplied binoculars.

Home to a wide variety of wildflowers, mushrooms and wildlife, our knowledgeable  guide is there to identify the flora and fauna along the trail.
We then begin our descent back to the Usal beach area, where we have your individualized picnic lunch waiting for you. Here you can just relax, or do tide-pool exploration, and grab a few pics of the resident Roosevelt elk that hang out by the beach.
Time to load back up and retrace our journey back to civilization, where we leave you with a  refreshed outlook on our wondrous planet.

Nitty Gritty

This five to six hour tour is weather dependent as the road is not navigable after heavy rains when muddy. Please note that this is a WILDERNESS tour that will involve a 1.5 hour scenic but windy drive each way and 2 hours of moderate hiking. We require our guests use appropriate footwear for this hike (tennis shoes, hiking books, or other outdoor shoes).  We also recommend wearing layers of clothing as the weather is unpredictable, a small day pack is helpful and don’t forget the camera. There are insects and poison oak in the area so we encourage you to take appropriate precautions in your dress and use of repellant. If you have any questions about the above, please do not hesitate to contact us for more information.

*Door to door pick-ups are limited to locations in the Village of Mendocino and within the City of Fort Bragg.
